What is Financial Aid?

Financial aid is any form of assistance that comes from some organized body that assists a student with the costs of attending college. These forms consist of federal, state, institutional and private funds that are used to assist students in funding their education. Scholarships and grants are "free money" that you do not pay back, however loans are considered as self-help and you are required to pay them back when a student becomes enrolled less than half-time or graduates. When you seek aid, we will consider you for all forms of aid available.

• After your fees and any other charges on your CBS student account are paid, any remaining financial aid will be refunded to you.

• Generally, if the Office of Financial Aid has disbursed aid to your student account and a credit is created, you can expect to receive a refund approximately 30-45 days after Census Date.

How to Apply for Financial Aid, Scholarships and Veteran Benefits

Apply for Financial Aid- (Houston) - Please make sure to complete the Admission Process
 
1. Complete the FAFSA application at www.fafsa.ed.gov. CBS School code is 034224.

2. It takes 3-5 business days before the application is sent to CBS.

3. After 5th day create a financial aid account through MyFACBS-Houston - 2400 (Process can take 4-6 weeks).

4. Once on the My FA portal page new students using financial aid will click on create account to start the process. Current students using financial aid will log in with their My FA portal credentials.



Apply for Financial Aid- (Online) - Please make sure to complete the Admission Process
 
1. Complete the FAFSA application at www.fafsa.ed.gov. CBS School code is 034224.

2. It takes 3-5 business days before the application is sent to CBS.

3. After 5th day create a financial aid account through MyFA CBS- Online - 2404 (Process can take 4-6 weeks).

4. Once on the My FA portal page new students using financial aid will click on create account to start the process. Current students using financial aid will log in with their My FA portal credentials.

 

Apply for Financial Aid – (Indiana Residents - Students attending Pyramid Campus) – Please make sure you complete the admissions process first

1. Complete the FAFSA application at www.fafsa.ed.gov. CBS School code is 034224.

2. It takes 3-5 business days before the application is sent to CBS.

3. After 5th day create a financial aid account through MyFA CBS-Indianapolis - 2401 (Process can take 4-6 weeks).

4. Once on the My FA portal page new students using financial aid will click on create account to start the process. Current students and students in “teach-out” programs please contact Phyllis Dodson at Phyllis.Dodson@cbshouston.edu for assistance. Do not create a new account as this will duplicate your financial aid budget and cause delays in processing your financial aid.
 

Apply for Financial Aid – (Indiana Resident - Students attending Ft. Wayne Campus) – Please make sure you complete the admissions process first.

1. Complete the FAFSA application at www.fafsa.ed.gov. CBS School code is 034224.

2. It takes 3-5 business days before the application is sent to CBS.

3. After 5th day create a financial aid account through MyFA CBS-Ft. Wayne - 2402 (Process can take 4-6 weeks).

4. Once on the My FA portal page new students using financial aid will click on create account to start the process.
